Numerous meditation techniques claim to have the same effects as TM, but neither experience nor research could ever confirm this claim.
The difference between Transcendental Meditation and other meditation techniques is in the word “transcendental”, a technique that leads to the experience of transcending.
It is the experience of transcending that makes all the difference, and both personal experience and objective research confirm this.
For example, a recent analysis of all the available high quality research on both TM and Mindfulness on the most severe form of PTSD (war veterans and refugees) showed that TM was, on average, 5 times as effective as Mindfulness.
Many other research studies have compared the effectiveness of TM to other meditation techniques (on anxiety, blood pressure, addictions, self-actualization, etc.). Each time the result was the same: the experience of transcending through TM proved to be more profound in terms of the results. (See TM compared with other meditation techniques).
